The Right Bra for your Prom Dress

The Right Bra for your Prom Dress

Feb 28th 2011

You focus a lot on picking out the right prom dress—but finding the right bra for that prom dress is just as important!  If you’re not sure what type of bra you should be wearing on prom night, we’re here to help.  After all, we’re Dress Prom.  We help you dress for the prom!

Strapless of bandeau

A strapless prom dress requires a strapless bra!  (That just makes sense.)  Look for a bra that includes some boning in the band and the sides of the cups.  This will help support you without shoulder straps.  Some strapless bras also come with adhesive strips.

Plunging neckline

It’s difficult to find the right bra to wear with a plunging neckline.  Find a demi-cup bra with an underwire and some extra padding.  Be sure to bring your prom dress with you when you’re trying bras on.  You don’t want to buy something that doesn’t work.

Backless

If your prom dress is backless, you’ll need to look for a strapless and bandless bra.  This kind of bra will certainly have adhesive taps on the cup linings to keep it in place.

Silhouette hugging

If your prom dress is very clingy, you’ll want to wear a full-torso bra.  This kind of undergarment extends from your breasts all the way down to your hip bones.  This will smooth your curves and keep you looking fabulous.

Halter neck

You need to wear a halter bra if your dress has this kind of neckline.
