2014 Miss America Pageant Contestants: Part 7

They’re getting ready to don their opening number dresses! The 2014 Miss America Pageant is only a few weeks away and we’re continuing our look at the young ladies vying for the crown with our Miss America Pageant Contestants blog series.2014-Miss-America-Contestants

Miss New York: Syracuse native Nina Davuluri, 24, is attending the University of Michigan with an eye toward attending medical school and becoming a physician. Her platform is “Celebrating Diversity through Cultural Competency”, and she’ll be displaying her passion for cultural exchange when she performs a classical Bollywood Fusion for the judges on pageant night.

Miss North Carolina: Johna Edmonds is pursuing her dream of becoming the CFO of a Fortune 500 Company. Studying for a Master’s of accounting degree at North Carolina State University, Edmonds, now 24, will be singing for the judges and supporting her platform issue of “Readers to Leaders.” She comes to the Miss America Pageant with the full support of her family and friends from Lumberton, NC.

Miss North Dakota: Hailing from Grand Forks, Laura Harmon plans to obtain a graduate degree in geography and become an environmental consultant. Her platform is “Energy Kids: Raising Responsible Energy Users”, and Harmon, 24, is currently studying at the University of North Dakota. She’ll be performing an operatic vocal for the judges

Miss Ohio: At 23, Heather Wells is pursuing a Master’s degree in nutrition from Kent State University. Wells dreams of becoming a health correspondent for a major news network and is supporting her platform of “Divorce Recovery for Youth” before the judges. Wells will be performing a lyrical dance number for the judges and hopes to bring the Miss America crown back to Warren.

Miss Oklahoma: With aspirations to become a professional entertainer, Kelsey Griswold won’t find a bigger stage to jumpstart her career. At 21, this Tulsa native is studying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting from Oklahoma City University and will be performing a vocal piece for the judges. Her platform of “A.R.T. – Artists Reaching Together” also ties in to her love of entertaining.

Miss Oregon: Performing an electro-acoustic violin piece, Allison Elizabeth Cook from Klamath Falls is only 19 years of age. She plans on graduating from the Oregon Institute of Technology in 2016 and pursuing a career as an MRI Tech, specializing in brain trauma. Her platform of “Brain Injury Awareness” will be an important piece of her long term health technology goals.
