Preparing for Homecoming
Oct 15th 2010
How does a girl get ready for homecoming? There’s more to it than just throwing on a dress and going out for the evening. There’s planning involved, and Dress Prom wants to make sure you get it right! Here are a few pointers for getting ready for the big evening that awaits you.
Start shopping for your homecoming dress at least a month before the dance. It’s a good idea to get some opinions before you pick something out. Lots of girls go shopping for dresses with their mothers and girlfriends. Homecoming is usually semi-formal, so you can wear anything from a cocktail-length dress (or shorter!) to a full-length gown. Try wearing warm fall colors to match the season.
You also need to think about accessories. It’s important to have the right purse and shoes to go with your homecoming dress. You should also think about jewelry and hair clips. They can work wonders when it comes to adding a little extra “pop” to an ensemble.
We don’t want to stress this too much (since it’s totally fine to go to a dance solo!), but if you plan on going with a date, make sure you get him lined up beforehand. He should have a suit or shirt that corresponds with the colors of your dress.
Make sure you make your hair, nail, and limo appointments early. Don’t forget about ordering flowers, either. And ensure that you have the homecoming picture forms filled out beforehand—it’ll be one less thing to worry about on the big night.
